Press ReleasesGOOD FIRST YEAR FOR MOELLER UNDER CBI UMBRELLACBI-electric Low Voltage has reported a better than expected increase in Moeller sales for the first twelve months since acquisition. Bottom line performance has improved in line with projections. Announcing these successes, Chris Oliver, managing director of CBI-electric Low Voltage, noted that the merger had been seamless. "Our decision to position Moeller as an independent entity has worked exceptionally well," Oliver said. "I believe we did the right thing by leaving Moeller's operational format unchanged. This position will be maintained for the foreseeable future."
Moeller's acquisition has meant that customers have benefited from access to a wider range of products and solutions. Moeller itself has been able to take advantage of market opportunities that could not be serviced with traditional products. "Access to a wider range of products has benefited both CBI and Moeller," Oliver explained, adding that CBI-electric Low Voltage now markets three brands in South Africa.
"The merger has been successful because the Moeller and Mitsubishi brands are complementary in the industrial controls market," he continued. "Each is able to offer to its customers products from the other brand. So we have closed gaps in both brand offerings." Steve Venter, acting divisional manager CBI-electric Industrial Controls (Moeller Division), noted that key capabilities in the organisation had been strengthened. "Specific attention has been paid to engineering, product management and sales," Venter said. "Our focus in the year ahead will be on recruitment, which will enable us to capitalise on opportunities in niche markets." José Ruivo, Moeller's manager for sales and marketing, commented that the brand had gained a very strong local parent while retaining traditional ties and technological advantages from a global manufacturer. "We have the best of both worlds," he noted. "The reputation of the Moeller brand together with the strength of CBI have put us in a very strong position to add future value to the South African market in both motor control and industrial automation," Ruivo concluded.
