Press ReleasesNETWORKED POWER DISTRIBUTION
Training was rounded off during June at a workshop conducted in Johannesburg by product specialist Rainer Menden, who flew in from Moeller Germany specifically for the programme. Noting that the automation's networking facet would increasingly become the responsibility of the Systems Division, Menden made use of the workshop to emphasise the increasing use worldwide of the proven PROFIBUS-DP fieldbus. He pointed out that there is a clearly identifiable and parallel increase in demand for web-based technologies to facilitate system maintenance through information distribution. The BreakerVisu suite was developed by Moeller specifically to meet this requirement, recording circuit-breaker operating states such as currents, switching states and load warnings, and presenting them dynamically on an http-based page. The page can be distributed to multiple workstations by fitting the motor control centre with a dedicated web server to transmit data via the intranet. BreakerVisu's simplified presentation of the data facilitates accurate evaluation of malfunction warnings, enabling effective corrective action to be taken. In addition, readings are automatically protocolled in a file for further fault analysis after the fact. BreakerVisu further enhances the already substantial capabilities of Moeller's NZM circuit-breaker family, all members of which are already equipped with an interface to communicate with the newest FDT technology, enabling full device configuration via the internet. Users require only an internet browser and Microsoft Excel to run the programme. ENDS PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS: Moeller software babe Issued on behalf of CBI-electric Industrial Controls (Moeller Division) |
