EASTERN CAPE DISTRIBUTOR TAKES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

Moeller Electric's prestigious Distributor Of The Year trophy has been awarded to Rubicon Electrical Distributors, Port Elizabeth.

The annual award, which recognises excellence in sales and customer service, marks for Rubicon a year of accelerating growth and expansion to Johannesburg. Head office has also been upgraded to include 1000 square metres of warehousing, new training rooms, a showroom and additional counter sales facilities.

Further offices are planned for East London and Durban.

At a ceremony held to present the trophy, Moeller Electric managing director James Anderson said that it was fitting that the 2007 award should go to a distributor with such a long-standing association with the parent company.

Moeller Electric began working with family-owned Rubicon shortly after it was established by John Schnetler as an electrical wholesale and retail company in 1986.

Today the company is one of the Eastern Cape's largest distributors of imported specialised electrical products, and an authorised distributor for Moeller switchgear and control gear, Rittal electrical and IT enclosures, Lapp Cable control cables, Weidmuller connectivity equipment and the industrial and domestic electrical consumables of ACDC Dynamics. Stocks of general equipment include Euchner safety components, Werma signal and beacon lighting, and Multi-Contact connectors.

Rubicon Electrical Distributors serves the domestic and industrial sectors across all provinces, and has major customers among large manufacturers, automation companies, municipalities and Spoornet. Turnover is evenly spread, and the company is not overly exposed to market fluctuations in any one segment.

Commenting on the award of Distributor Of The Year, sales manager Dylan Schnetler attributed the success to several factors, among them Rubicon's comprehensive stock holding.

"We have an end-to-end range of proven products from leading manufacturers," he said, "and a philosophy of backing them with the peace of mind that comes from offering technically qualified, single-source responsibility."

"Product also played a part," he said. "Moeller's new range of X-start switchgear has one of the highest specifications on the market, and this served to support and further enhance the very strong reputation of this brand for delivering a top quality product with strong after-sales back-up."

Schnetler said that the Distributor Of The Year award had also been the result of a conscious effort by Rubicon to develop an even closer working relationship with Moeller Electric during the 2006/7 financial year, especially with regard to training.

"Both companies have much the same outlook when it comes to customers," Schnetler said.

"We stay as close as possible to their needs and requirements, and we place a special emphasis on training. We regularly complement the courses organised by Moeller Electric with in-house development to ensure that all staff remain in touch with the latest trends in product and the industry as a whole.

"This simple strategy of customer focus has worked well over the years and we will keep developing it to the benefit of our customers. Customer presentations, training sessions and personal selling will continue to form the basis of our approach," Schnetler concluded.
