Press ReleasesTripping Characteristics Easy To Compare
The new programme tool, 'Characteristics', displays in simple PC format the curves of multiple protective devices against the same scales of time and current. Announcing the new software, Moeller Electric's director of sales and marketing, José Ruivo, said that the software largely overcomes the difficulties traditionally experienced in attempting a graphical comparison of the curves of individual circuit-breaker settings. "The tendency in the past has been for most evaluations to fail because of the different scales against which the curve coordinates needed by the different protective switches and fuses are plotted," Ruivo explained. Ruivo said that Moeller had developed the new software tool specifically to overcome this problem, allowing the designer to accurately examine and compare selectivity in the overload range. "Characteristics makes comparison of the different curves simple to achieve," he said. "As far as the Moeller range of products is concerned, the package also makes it easy to assess the interaction of Moeller's NZM and IZM circuit-breakers, as well as any h.b.c. fuses used in combination with them," Ruivo added. The new programme can display the tripping curves on the screen, or generate a clear printout as required. Curve sets can be saved, printed or exported to other documents, with password protection for project documentation, and with individual project data. The software can be used for any number of projects. Characteristics is available from Moeller Electric head office and its two branches in Cape Town and Durban. The software tool can also be downloaded from the website www.moeller.net. |
